Biography

  • Dr. Salem Haggag had his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Ain Shams University
    University in 1992, and awarded his M.Sc. degree from the same university in 1996. In 2003 Dr.
    Haggag awarded his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) at University of Illinois at
    Chicago, USA. Dr. Haggag is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Automotive
    Engineering, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. At present, he is a visiting Professor Arab
    Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, Mechanical Engineering
    Department (Mechatronics), Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Haggag research interests focus on advanced
    Mechatronics system performance and control, advanced vehicle control system, product/system
    design, modern automatic control, electro hydraulic / Mechanical systems, X-by-wire control
    systems, embedded systems, fault tolerant systems and system simulation / optimization. He had
    a good experience in teaching Mechatronics related courses such as Introduction to
    Mechatronics, Mechatronics Systems, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Power Plant Measurement
    & Control, Advanced Automotive Technology, Advanced Mechatronics Systems, Modeling and
    Simulation of Mechanical System, Internal Combustion Engines, Hydraulic Systems, and Stress
    Analysis. Dr. Haggag had teaching experience in variant of Universities and Academic
    Institutions in Egypt: Ain Shams University, Faculty of Engineering (Automotive), Arab
    Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, Mechanical Department
    (Mechatronics) and Future University in Egypt, Mechanical Department (Mechatronics). He is
    supervising few M.Sc. thesis and had around nine papers in international journals. In the field of
    industry, Dr. Haggag is involved in many of projects for in the control and design of industrial
    machines and mobile equipments. He was awarded two funded project, one from the Eurpian
    Union under the TEMPUS program and the other from the Egyptian Ministry of Education. Dr.
    Haggag was also awarded and USA patent in the hydraulic control of earth moving equipments.
