Biography

  • My name is Khaled Seif Abdallah a PhD graduate from IE department, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, United States.
    Currently, I am working as the head of the department of Supply Chain Management at the college of International Transport and Logistics, Arab Academy for Science and Technology.

    I got my BSc. in 2001 from Design and Production Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Egypt with a "Distinction with Honor" grade. Soon after Graduation I was appointed by the university to work as an instructor meanwhile, I started working on my Master Degree on Quality Control.
    I got my thesis based master in 2004, and started another 2 years masters in operations research from the Institute of Statistical Studies and Research, Cairo University meanwhile I started working at “Allied for training and consulting” as a consulting engineer. Our team was responsible for improving the manufacturing practice of some of the industrial companies in Egypt such as “E-Med, Royal Pack, and Hi-Tek (it is its real name) companies”.
    In 2006, I applied for the PhD program at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in the US. I got accepted with full fund.

    In my PhD, I have been working on an exact solution to vehicle routing problems with semi hard resource constraints. The resource constraints are semi-hard, meaning each resource requirement, such as time window requirements and delivery quantity requirement, can be relaxed to a pre-fixed extent at a predefined cost. The maximum number of customers whose requirements can be relaxed is fixed.

    Recently I participated in several successful funding including a recently recommended for funding project entitled “Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences: New Postgraduate Programs" with 12 other partners either academic industrial in Egypt and the EU as well. I also designed and Implemented an IS software to optimize planning the educational process within the college of International Transport and Logistics.

  • Simulation of the dispatching function at WLT
    A project funded by Wisconsin Lift Trucks Co. (WLT) to improve its dispatching function. Conducted statistical data analysis using Minitab, Simulation programming using ProModel, and writing the final technical report. Project carried under supervision of Prof Jaejin Jang of UWM

  • On-Time Service for Distributed Areas: Dynamic Vehicle Routing with Time Window Constraints
    A project funded by MiTAG to improve material handling in warehouse through using RFID tags and sensors and used in online real time storage and picking up goods. Developed an algorithm for VRPTW, programming an analysis software using VB, simulation programming using Arena, and writing a technical report. Project was carried out under the supervision of Prof Jaejin Jang of UWM.

    Participated in several consulting projects funded by the IMC through different companies. The projects include Designing planning activities at several companies and technical assessment of aluminum industry sector at Mit Ghamr, among several other projects.
