Biography

  • Dr.Amira R.Khattab obtained her PhD degree in Pharmacognosy, in Sep. 2015, from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Tanta, Egypt. She is currently working as a lecturer of Pharmacognosy & Natural Products Chemistry in the college of Pharmacy, Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport.

She is very passionate about medicinal plants and drugs which are derived from inspired by natural products. Whether we like it not, Pharmacognosy is not a subject of the past, but it has developed over the years, and is now fit to meet the challenges of the present and the future of drug discovery and development. Thus, the importance of studying Pharmacognosy in Pharmacy cannot be overlooked and will remain essential to understanding drugs and their therapeutic effects. Accordingly, it is an integral part of any meaningful academic Pharmacy program the world over.

She gives lectures of Introduction to Medicinal Plants PPS 114, Drugs of Natural Origin PPS 118 &Chemistry of Natural products I PPS 213. She involves her students in a variety of interactive learning modalities, problem solving and technology-infused activities that provide them with opportunities to apply the skills in real-life after graduation.

She was ranked 3rd in Thanaweya Amma (Alexandria sector) and graduated at Jun. 2005 from Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University with a general grade “excellent with honor and ranked 13th”.
