Biography

  • Ahmed Elseragy is a Professor of Sustainable Architecture & Urbanism and the Head of School of Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (A leading HE international organisation), AAST, Alexandria, Egypt. Prior to that he was the Deputy Director of the International Research and Projects Centre at the AAST with responsibility of instigating and coordinating partnerships with many higher education institutions in over 20 different countries.

    Professor Elseragy is an Internationalisation Higher Education Consultant and Chief Representative (MENA Region) for the Higher Education academy (HEA) currently part of Advance‐HE in the United Kingdom since 2017 and has worked with them to develop and implement national higher education reform and internationalisation strategies for different countries in the MENA region. Professor Elseragy has worked on many HE international projects, which have included building University strategic partnerships in different countries and enhancing international institution cooperation in research, learning, teaching and enterprise.

    Professor Elseragy is currently a Consultant Advisor for the Minister of Trade and Industry in Egypt advising on Industrial Development National Projects across Egypt and international trade strategies. Professor Elseragy has also delivered many motivational and entrepreneurial talks titled ‘Mind the Gap’ in the UK, Egypt and the MENA region. He was the Director of the Lincoln School of Architecture International Exchange Programme at the University of Lincoln, UK until 2016.

    Professor Elseragy has two and half decades proven track record of implementing internationalisation strategies in HE and opening new international markets, international business opportunities through developing transnational education, short courses and summer programmes, and expanding international research and enterprise opportunities in Higher Education. Professor Elseragy was the Dean of International Network and Affairs between 2009‐2012 at the AAST Academy for Science and Technology, London Office in the UK with responsibility of the development and implementation of the University’s internationalisation strategy at home and abroad. His role included liaising with international Universities and Governmental bodies. He has held permanent, tenured academic, senior management and leadership posts at both national and international institutions including the University of Nottingham, the Higher Education Academy‐UK, University of Lincoln, the University of Wolverhampton, The University of Salford, AAST Academy (Alexandria, Cairo and Aswan Campuses) and University of Alexandria that demonstrates his sustained effectiveness in leadership, management, teaching and learning and research and enterprise.

    Professor Elseragy holds BSc in Architectural Engineering, MSc in Environmental Design in Architecture and PhD in Sustainable Architecture in the Built Environment from the School of the Built Environment at the University of Nottingham, UK in 2004, and is an active member in many international and professional bodies. Professor Elseragy has excellent experience of curriculum development and setting up of new programmes and professional validation through his current and previous senior management roles, and his initiation and leadership role in the accreditation of the RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 at the architectural engineering and environmental design Program at AAST, which was the 1st programme to be accredited by the RIBA in the MENA region. Professor Elsersagy has a very strong understanding and senior level experience of working internationally in the UK, Middle East and North Africa Region, where his various senior management roles have allowed him to network with the very highest‐level individuals, government representatives and organisation from those regions.
