Given the development of Alexandria’s freeway (corniche), increasing its breadth, the absence of traffic signals for pedestrians crossing, the high cost of the pedestrians’ underground tunnels  which could be up to twenty million pounds, in addition to the lack of the possibility of establishing pedestrians’ crossing bridges to avoid setting a maximum elevation level on the freeway, also with the vehicles not committing to maximum speed limits and travelling within lanes, it has become difficult for pedestrians to cross the road which led to an increased accident rate.

So to provide a low-cost safe way to which is characterized by a beautiful design in order to keep the freeway’s style, a telphrage (cable-car) has been invented which moves vertically on both sides of the road and then changes course to horizontal over the road the way to overcome the traditional design of the cable car, in which it is qualified to operate between far distances or between mountains peaks, allowing it gradual elevation. The design also allows the possibility of removing the wires in case of the passage of high-length vehicles.
