Overview

The Computer Networks and Data Center (CNDC) provides a structured environment that effectively coordinates operational activities with all network users. AAST Network extends to all faculty members, administrative staff, students and classroom activities to provide services that meet the Academy goals.The Network is based on Giga bit Ethernet fiber optic backbone that covers a total of 31 buildings and consists of over 7500 data points distributed over five campuses.

CNDC manages a wide range of services and provides a tier-one network support for each campus as well as a wide area network WAN to the regional five campuses. In providing these services, the CNDC offers oversight of problem, configuration and change management, Network security, performance and policy monitoring, reporting quality assurance, scheduling and documentation.

Four campuses are connected to the main campus in Abu-Qeer through 2Mb/s leased lines each, plus another 2Mbs VPN connectivity for each campus.On the other hand the Academy is connected to the Internet through two service providers with a total bandwidth capacity of 27 Mb/s.
