IRU Certificate for Professional Competence (CPC) Manager

The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is the world road transport organization, which upholds the interests of bus, coach, taxi and truck operators to ensure economic growth and prosperity via the sustainable mobility of people and goods by road worldwide.

Professional competence today is a prerequisite for ensuring a competitive advantage to companies active on local and international markets. Establishing and managing a successful road transport company is becoming increasingly difficult in light of the multitude of complex international and national goods and passenger transport legislation currently in place.

Road transport is the backbone of economies and societies, on both local and global levels. With today's increasing awareness of security and environmental challenges, road transport professionals must comply with existing and anticipated regulations, and be familiar with the latest technologies that address these key issues. In the face of these challenges, the road transport training industry needs an exemplary framework for capacity-building to enhance its professionalism, efficiency, effectiveness and accountability.

The IRU Academy has established training standards for the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in international and national transport for road haulage on the basis of EU Regulation EC/2009/1071, international legal instruments and best practices.

The CPC Manager program aims at providing professionals with the knowledge and skills to perform in an environment in constant evolvement. Students of the IRU Academy's CPC Manager Programme find that their training is tailored to the practical needs of road transport companies and their drivers, and prepares them for today's increasingly demanding market and stringent regulations.

  • The IRU Academy recognised the need for a Professional Manager qualification which:
Provides essential qualification for people involved in Road Transport Management and a requirement for operators who run vehicles for hire and reward who need to hold an operator's license.
  • Fits the need for anyone who may not need an operator's license but who needs to know the industry best practices and the procedures to keep in line with regulatory obligations and business performance.
  • Significantly develops transport operators professional knowledge and skills.
  • Contributes to improve road safety.
  • Integrates key aspects of international legislations.
  • Contributes to develop a positive image of the profession.
  • Can be delivered in League of the Arab State's countries.

LTTC in partnership with the Arab Union of Land Transport (AULT) are offering the IRU's CPC Manager program to trainees in the field of road transport. This program is aimed to transport operators and other professionals who are required to hold a Certificate of Professional Competence in order to comply with the requirements to access to the profession. The program also suits the needs of managers and other staff who would like to improve their career prospects and develop their management skills and transport knowledge as well as to entrepreneurs and operators who would like to start their own transport enterprise.

The CPC Manager program consists of nine modules as follows:

  • Civil Law (14 hours)
  • Commercial Law (8 hours)
