The goal of the E-Commerce program is to support the national development efforts in Egypt and the Middle East by providing graduates that work as catalysts of change in their organizations. These graduates are expected to fill the gap in knowledge and skills between the market actual needs and those possessed by most of the currently employed staff.
Specifically, the program aims at producing graduates with abilities to advance their organizations through the application of advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to the business practices.
While there are several program that produce graduates with pure ICT or mix of ICT and business skills, the E-Commerce program distinguishes itself by focusing on providing graduates with skills specific to the application of ICT to business in the areas of e-commerce, e-business, and e-government. As such, there is overlap between the program and other program even within the academy, yet the outcome is different as E-Commerce graduates are well-suited to plan, develop, or design computer information systems focused on E-Commerce, E-Business, and E-Government. For instance, in their graduation projects, E-Commerce students work on ideas like online stock-trading, e-recruitment, e-procurement, online real estate appraisal, online philanthropic management, etc. Such projects represent a sample of ICT applications in E-Commerce.
