The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides the educational base for those who seek to work in fields like HVAC, Automotive, Power and Mechatronics.

The traditional Energy and Power Engineering program provides the broadest background and preparation for a wide range of career opportunities or graduate studies. Graduates who complete the Energy and Power Engineering emphasis are prepared to pursue careers in thermal power systems design and development, machines installation, and maintenance. Included within its scope are studies in renewable energy systems design, ion and management and maintenance of both conventional and non-conventional power plants.

The Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineering option provides graduates with an understanding of the different air conditioning systems design and analysis, refrigeration systems design, refrigeration equipment and ion.

Automotive Engineering includes mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcycles, automobiles, buses and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems.

The Mechatronics Engineering option provides graduates with an understanding the synergistic combination of Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, and Systems Design Engineering to create, design, and manufacture useful products.. Examples include more efficient washing machines, automated robotic assembly lines, cameras, laser printers, photocopiers, stair-climbing wheelchairs, hybrid autos and garage door openers. Mechatronics Engineering focuses on developing the student’s readiness in solving problems of complex systems in engineering and technology by means of computational modeling, analysis, and simulations.
