Advanced Therapeutics: Pain Management

Description

The purpose of the course is to prepare students to develop rational drug therapy plans for patients with mild to moderate pain commonly occurring in every day settings as well as severe pain and chronic pain at the end-of-life illnesses. The student will recognize pain as a multidimensional phenomenon and as such pain needs to be managed through multidisciplinary initiatives. The Pharmacy student will be introduced to pain theory and assessment principles, interventions and treatment of pain as well as pain management in special populations including children, elderly, surgery, cancer, and HIV patients.
