A Professional Diploma in Written Translation

The diploma lasts for two terms in nine months. Learners will meet their lecturers twice a week. Each session will last for 3 hours.

Programme Outcomes

The Professional Diploma in Written Translation will enable learners to:
1.Apply the different methodological approaches and procedures employed in rendering a text into another language.
2.Be aware of problems of non-equivalence in translation and adopt the strategies employed by professional translators.
3.Practically apply the principles and techniques of translation by translating different texts on various fields of knowledge.
4.Translate specialized texts by applying professional, nationally accepted standards of translation using authentic materials.
5.Gain sufficient knowledge and acquire localization skills through exposure to a variety of topics.
6.Identify errors and criticize translated texts through the application of contrastive analysis techniques.
7.Prepare specialized glossaries by considering linguistic differences between the source language and the target language.
