TVM 117   English as a Foreign Language for Vocational Purposes: Elementary
The course aims at enhancing learners'' four language skills, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking. Special emphasis is placed on enabling learners to express themselves and communicate adequately in the target language. The course also focuses on increasing learners'' confidence while presenting technical reports and on helping them compose fairly accurate written texts for routine work-related purposes.
TVM 127    English as a Foreign Language for Vocational Purposes: Intermediate
The course aims at further enhancing learners'' four language skills. Special emphasis is placed on enabling learners to communicate fluently and accurately in the target language. The course also focuses on boosting learners'' confidence and accuracy while presenting technical reports and in composing specialized written texts in the target language for work- related purposes.
TVM 135     Communication: Presenting Complex Communication for Vocational Purposes
In this course, learners are trained to actively participate in formal business meetings. The course also aims at enabling learners to write complex business documents with ease and precision. Special emphasis is placed on developing and enhancing presentation skills to help learners deliver formal presentations on complex vocational issues with a high level of accuracy.

Applicants to all AAST colleges sit for a placement test to determine their proficiency levels. Those who score below 40 have to register for this course. The course aims at enhancing learners’ four language skills, improving their general lexical repertoire and preparing them to communicate their ideas effectively. The course is also designed to train learners to follow the principles and stages of the writing process of a coherent paragraph. Students use listening and reading strategies to talk about a variety of general topics. Furthermore, it helps students use basic general vocabulary meaningfully and accurately and some relevant grammatical structures.
