ALI 125   ESP I Arabic Section

The course aims at developing and enhancing learners’ reading and writing skills. Students are expected to read and write specialized and academic materials with fairly adequate proficiency. Students are also expected to develop listening and speaking skills in specialized and general fields with fairly adequate proficiency. The course also aims at providing students with adequate presentation skills that are necessary for giving information related to their field of study.

ELI 125    ESP I English Section

The course aims at developing and enhancing learners’ three language skills: speaking, listening, and reading through a combination of ESP and general materials. Academic writing is also introduced in detail through practicing writing different types of paragraphs and essays about various topics of interest. Moreover, various functional writing forms are introduced and practiced. Different language functions are provided to students to train them to be able to communicate orally in real life situations and to give presentations on topics related to their field.

ALI 212    ESP II Arabic Section

This course aims at providing students with further practice to enhance their reading and writing skills with fairly adequate proficiency. Students are expected to build on their previously acquired reading and writing skills in terms of academic and specialized materials. In addition, various functional writing forms are introduced and practiced. Students are also expected to develop listening and speaking skills in specialized and general fields with fairly adequate proficiency. Besides, the course aims at providing students with basic interviewing skills that are necessary for their careers.

ELI 212     ESP II English Section

The course aims at enabling students to master their reading, speaking and writing skills. Students are expected to enhance their previously acquired reading and writing skills, in terms of functional, academic and specialized materials. A variety of language functions are provided to students to train them to be able to communicate orally in real life situations at work. Finally, learners acquire presentation and interviewing skills that are necessary for their career.

The course aims at developing students'' four language skills and enabling them to use the target language (TL) in interpreting written and spoken materials of general and academic nature. By the end of the course, learners will be able to exchange simple information orally in the TL listen for main ideas recognize basic pronunciation patterns skim and scan texts in the TL identify and use new vocabulary in meaningful contexts and use specific grammatical structures in meaningful contexts.

The course aims at developing students'' four language skills and enabling them to use the TL in interpreting written and spoken materials of general and academic nature. Students are also expected to use the pre-writing stages effectively.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to exchange information orally in the TL listen for gist and specific information recognize pronunciation patterns skim and scan texts in the TL identify and use new vocabulary in meaningful contexts and use specific grammatical structures in meaningful contexts. Students are also expected to practice logical thinking in writing prepare effective outlines and use concrete support effectively.

The course aims at developing students'' four language skills and enabling them to use the TL in interpreting written and spoken materials of general and academic nature. By the end of the course, learners will be able to exchange information orally in the TL listen for gist and specific information recognize pronunciation patterns skim and scan texts in the TL identify and use new vocabulary in meaningful contexts and use specific grammatical structures in meaningful contexts. Students are also expected to use transition signals effectively and write unified, coherent paragraphs.

The course aims at developing students'' four language skills and enabling them to use the TL in interpreting written and spoken materials of general and academic nature. By the end of the course, learners will be able to exchange information orally in the TL listen for gist and specific information recognize pronunciation patterns skim and scan texts in the TL identify and use new vocabulary in meaningful contexts and use specific grammatical structures in meaningful contexts. Students are also expected to identify and use different patterns of logical division of ideas.

Students are also expected to acquire the necessary technical terms related to their field of study. The course also aims at providing students with adequate presentation skills which are necessary for their future careers.
