Preparation for IELTS
This is a preparation course for the Cambridge International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. It aims at equipping participants with the skills and strategies needed to undertake the test with confidence. The course gives intensive practice in each module, making sure learners know exactly how to make the best use of exam time. Participants do practice tests in each skill and specialized instructors provide feedback on performance to help learners improve their test taking skills as well as their language proficiency.
Preparation for TOEFL
These are two courses which focus on developing participants’ test taking skills for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) one is offered for the Institutional/ Local test and the other for the IBT (Internet-based test). They are designed to help students develop the language skills required for either exam. The courses also familiarize participants with the format and directions of the test, as well as the types of questions included. Trained instructors work on identifying students’ weak areas to help them develop the language skills necessary for achieving the desired scores.
Preparation for BULATS
This Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) preparation course is designed for learners who want to develop business-related language skills while learning strategies to achieve the best possible result in the BULATS test. BULATS is a multilingual set of workplace language assessment, training and benchmarking tools.
It is used internationally for business and industry recruitment, for identifying and delivering training, for admission to study business-related courses and for assessing the effectiveness of language courses and training.Participants practice using the functional language necessary for typical exchanges in the office and business environment, learn how to write relevant business documents and develop effective presentation skills.
Preparation for BEC
The Business English Certificates (BEC) are internationally recognized qualifications that show a candidate’s skills for using English in the workplace. These two test preparation courses, for BEC Vantage and BEC Higher, are designed to provide participants with the tools necessary to interact efficiently in a business environment.
The right language skills are an essential element for success in international business and industry.Through special focus on preparation for the BEC exams, the courses cover all aspects of business English as participants will be able to read and understand the main points from graphs or charts, messages and emails, as well as use vocabulary and structure correctly. They will also be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials including interviews and discussions about everyday life.
Preparation for KET
The Key English Test (KET) recognizes learners’ ability to deal with everyday written and spoken English at a basic level. This test preparation course offers learners a chance to find out their strengths and weaknesses in using English, and gives them a pathway to improve their abilities and obtain higher qualifications. KET's 'Can Do' skills give participants the confidence to use English in real life situations. The course will help students understand simple written information such as signs, brochures, newspapers and magazines. They will also be able to understand announcements and other spoken material when people speak reasonably slowly.
Preparation for PET
The Preliminary English Test (PET) is an exam for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an intermediate level. The preparation course helps participants develop and improve their language skills through providing practical language practice in a variety of everyday work, study and leisure situations. Students will practice reading and understanding the main points from signs, newspapers and magazines, and use vocabulary and structure correctly. The course also enables learners to understand straightforward instructions and deal with most of the situations when travelling to an English-speaking country, as they will take part in conversations, asking/answering questions, and talking freely in addition to writing letters or making notes on familiar matters.
Preparation for FCE
The First Certificate in English (FCE) is an exam for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level. Preparing for it is ideal for those who want to use English for either work or study purposes. The preparation course stresses the practical use of English, both spoken and written, in a variety of work and study related situations. Reading, writing and listening skills are enhanced through various authentic texts as students will be able to deal confidently with different types of text, such as fiction, newspapers and magazines. They will also be trained to produce different pieces of writing, such as letters, reports, reviews and short stories and communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. This would by far increase the participants’ chances of getting the degree or job they aspire to.
Preparation for TKT
The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) is about teaching English to speakers of other languages. This course is given to teachers who would like to take an internationally recognized qualification to gain formal recognition for their experience or those want to enhance their career opportunities by broadening their teaching experience into specialist areas. Preparing for TKT will help students grow in confidence as teachers and give them the knowledge and skills that will help them develop their careerby focusing on the core teaching knowledge necessary for teachers of primary, secondary and adult learners. Emphasis is placed on different methodologies of teaching, the ways in which resources can be used, aspects of lesson planning and classroom management techniques.
Preparation for GMAT
The course focuses on the development of grammatical, lexical and reading comprehension skills needed for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Critical reasoning and analytical skills are targeted in this course. Participants are introduced to vocabulary from different passages related to the social, physical and biological sciences which they practice using in the appropriate contexts. In addition, test taking strategies are emphasized to help candidates achieve the desired scores.
Preparation for GRE
The aim of this course is to prepare learners for the verbal sections in the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The course is given to students who come from varying educational and cultural backgrounds. It focuses on the basic concepts that enable learners to attack a verbal problem and solve it. In addition, it enhances their ability to analyze and evaluate written material and synthesize information obtained from it, analyze relationships among parts of sentences and recognize relationships among words and concepts. Students are also introduced to critical thinking and analytical writing skills in order to articulate and support complex ideas clearly and effectively.
