Practical Training for Seafarers Basic Studies Trainees
In coordination with Sumed Co., one of the largest oil companies in Egypt and the Middle East, the sixth seafarers group had a practical training on the Company's ship at Sidi Kreir in order to maximize the benefits of the theoretical information acquired by the trainees during the course.
PTI participation in ILO Meetings
Port Training Institute, represented by Dr. Sherif Maher, Head of Ports and Logistics Programs Department, attended the fourth meeting of the International Experts Council held at ILO Headquarters from 8/5/2011 to 11/5/2011. The meeting discussed the final proposal of the first training guide in port sector. The proposal will be submitted to the ILO members for accreditation and implementation. It is worth mentioning that PTI was ed by ILO to be a member in the International Experts Council.
Badr El Din Petroleum Co. visits PTI
A delegation from Badr El Din Petroleum Company visited PTI to identify the Institute's facilities in order to discuss the different aspects of cooperation in the training field and to accredit specialized training centers to train the contractors. The visit was an outcome of the Institute's efforts to open new channels in training and education. Dr. Akram Soliman El-Salmy, Dean of the Institute, welcomed the Company delegation (Geron Hendrik – Mahmoud El-Kaffas – Saeed Abdel-Raouf) on Sunday 8/5/2011. The mobile cranes simulator and the course details were introduced to the delegation who expressed their interest in training the mobile cranes operators. In addition, they visited the Institute's workshops and classrooms.
Methanex visits PTI
In the framework of the Institute's efforts to open new channels in training and education in Egypt, Dr. Akram Soliman, Dean of the Institute, welcomed Methanex Corporation Projects Manager as well as MR. Gil Dehogne – Responsible Care and ISO Coordinator. After watching a documentary film presenting the Institute's facilities and activities, they visited the labs and the simulators complex, and expressed their willingness to train a number of drivers in the future. Next, they visited the hydraulic, engineering, maritime and computer labs. They were impressed by the Institute's facilities which led them to plan for a mutual cooperation between the Company and the Institute in the future.
Safety General Manager at Abu Qir Fertilizers Co visits PTI
Eng. Ihab Ali El-Abd – Safety General Manager at Abu Qir Fertilizers Co. – visited PTI on Thursday 7/4/2011. Eng. Ihab Ali met Dr. Akram Soliman, Dean of the Institute, as well as PTI managers who are specialized in safety, occupational health and the maritime field. Eng. Ihab submitted the Company's training requirements and discussed the possibility of conducting a training course on exporting liquid gas.
