The development of Egyptian container companies in light of the recent challenges in the maritime transport market
• The Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport is one of the economic pillars participating in the development of the national economy.
• The activity of handling containers and goods is one of the most important activities that the holding company practices through its subsidiaries (Alexandria Container and Goods Handling - Port Said for Container and Cargo Handling - Damietta Container and Cargo Handling).
• In the interest of the leaders of the Holding Company and the Egyptian container companies to upgrade the services provided and support the national economy, the Research and Consultation Center was invited to study the recent global, regional and local challenges and their expected effects on container handling activities for national companies, while proposing the appropriate strategy to maximize their market shares in light of what these face. Companies from competition in the field of handling foreign trade containers.
And based on the experience of the Maritime Research and Consultation Center for the Maritime Transport Sector, a study implementation plan has been prepared that includes three main stages:
The first phase: an exploratory study of the most important global, regional and local developments and challenges in the containerized maritime transport market, especially in light of the Corona crisis that struck the countries of the world.
• The second stage: preparing the expected demand scenarios and estimating the expected market shares for the Egyptian container terminals.
• The third stage: proposing appropriate strategies for Egyptian container companies in light of the recent challenges in the container shipping market.
