Visit of a High-Level Delegation from Shandong Port Group in China to the Arab Academy for Science , Technology & Maritime Transport, AASTMT
In the context of enhancing relations between the Arab Academy for Science , Technology & Maritime Transport, AASTMT. and its various entities and the Chinese side, His Excellency Professor. Ismail Abd El-Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President ,AASTMT, received a high-level delegation from Shandong Port Group in China. The delegation was led by His Excellency Consul Yang Yi, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Alexandria, and Mr. Shen, an official from the Chinese Ministry of Transport in Alexandria. The delegation included His Excellency Counselor Tsai Zhongtang, an advisor to the Shandong Port Group, which ranks among the top ten ports in the world in terms of cargo volume, Mr. Su Jianguang, the President of the Qingdao Port Group, Mr. Zhu Guan, the General Manager of the Professional Education Group at Shandong Port, and Mr. Feng Zhang, Deputy Head of the Cooperation and Development Department at the Technical College affiliated to Qingdao Port.
During the meeting, Professor. Ismail Abd El-Ghaffar Ismail Farag and Mr. Zhu Guan signed a memorandum of understanding between Port Training Institute, PTI and the Technical College affiliated to Qingdao Port in China. The memorandum aims to establish a joint training center to launch a series of international diplomas in the field of ports. This will make Port Training Institute the first center of excellence in partnership with Shandong Ports. The meeting was attended by Professor. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute, Professor. Amr El-Halawany, Dean, Agreements and International Relations Center, and Dr. Abeer Murad, Director of Corporate Communications at AASTMT.
This collaboration builds upon previous cooperation between Port Training Institute and Shandong Port Group. The delegation also conducted an inspection tour of the Academy, which included the Integrated Simulators Complex and the Planetarium.
It's worth mentioning that a high-level delegation from Qingdao City Parliament, led by His Excellency Mr. Wang Luoming, the President of the House of Representatives, joined the visit to Port Training Institute. They were welcomed by Professor. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute, and other institute officials. The unveiling ceremony of the Joint Center of Excellence between Port Training Institute and the Technical College affiliated with Qingdao Port took place, followed by a meeting in the conference hall. During the meeting, Dean of PTI presented an overview of the institute's capabilities, services, and partnerships at both local and global levels, highlighting the institute's role in enriching the port sector with training programs aligned with international trends.
Afterwards, the guests took an inspection tour of the institute, including the simulator complex, laboratories, and engineering workshop complex, to learn about the institute's training capabilities. The delegation praised the institute's progress as a distinguished entity in the port sector, making this visit a promising starting point for future cooperation in this field.
