The Arab Academy for Science and Technology at the Smart Village hosted ambassadors from 15 countries

This morning, Sunday, October 9, 2022, Dr. Ismail Abdelghafar Ismail Farag, the President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, welcomed ambassadors from 15 countries at the academy's headquarters in the Smart Village in Cairo. The delegation of ambassadors was accompanied by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Ayman Kamel.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghafar extended a warm welcome to the esteemed ambassadors of the Asian countries and the Ambassador of Australia, stating, "Our honorable guests, ladies and gentlemen, I feel proud and honored to be with you today as we welcome you to the Arab Academy, one of the organizations of the Arab League."

Dr. Abdelghafar gave a presentation about the journey of the Arab Academy, highlighting its work in various fields such as education, training, scientific research, and community service. He emphasized that the academy will soon celebrate its golden jubilee, marking 50 years of excellence in education across 40 disciplines in 13 faculties, through 10 different branches in Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, and most recently the El Alamein branch. The academy also has branches outside the Arab Republic of Egypt in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and Syria."

He further stated, "The Arab Academy has a long history of cooperation with many Asian countries, and we have already achieved numerous successes with respected educational institutions such as the Maritime Institute of Technology in Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Malaysia, Dalian Maritime University in China, Shanghai Maritime University in China, Guangzhou Maritime University in China, and Xiamen University in China, in addition to our collaboration with IP Education Ltd. Australia."

Dr. Abdelghafar pointed out that the reputation of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport is known through its support for its researchers, making it a hub for scholars from around the world to participate in joint sustainable development projects.

He concluded his speech expressing his pride and appreciation for the achievements of the academy and its leaps in various global rankings, as well as the certifications it has received, which are evidence of its excellence in education and scientific research. He mentioned that the academy achieved the first position at the local level in the Times Higher Education's university impact rankings, and it is also the first Egyptian university to receive a five-star rating according to the QS rankings.

In his address, Ambassador Ayman Kamel, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, thanked Dr. Ismail Abdelghafar, the President of the Arab Academy, for his kind invitation to the ambassadors present. He expressed their great anticipation for cooperation with the academy on various levels, including holding meetings with the Egyptian government and various entities and investors to enhance collaboration with Egyptian institutions.

Ambassador Kamel also acknowledged that the academy is not just an educational institution but also an international organization operating under the umbrella of the Arab League and serving as an international regional organization based in the Arab Republic of Egypt since 1972, making it one of the oldest regional international organizations in existence.
