The Arab Academy(AASTMT) and The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) Celebrates the Graduation of 70 Agricultural Startups in Upper Egypt and New Valley, Tanmia Wa Tatweer (TWT) - Agribusiness Incubator Demo Day

The Academy of scientific research and Technology, and the Arab Academy for science, technology and maritime transport celebrated the graduation of 70 agricultural start-up companies in the TWT incubators for agribusiness in Upper Egypt and New Valley, which are implemented and organized by the Academy of scientific research and Technology in cooperation with Entrepreneurship Center at the Arab Academy .
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hanan Majdi, deputy governor of the New Valley, and General A.H. Sherif Ahmed Saleh, Chairman of Upper Egypt Development Authority and Mr. Alaa Farouk, chairman of the Egyptian agricultural bank. and Under the patronage of Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, president of the Academy of scientific research and Technology, and in the presence of Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy, and representatives of the African Development Bank Ms. Jehan Al-Sukkari and Mr. Samuel Camara.



The Tanmia Wa Tatweer "TWT" project implemented by the Academy of scientific research comes with the support of the Danish-Arab partnership program through the African Development Bank, to support entrepreneurship and encourage innovation in Upper Egypt and the New Valley, and the agribusiness incubator is one of its important programs aimed at encouraging innovation and supporting startups in the geographical scope of the governorates of Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan, in addition to the incubator established in the New Valley governorate.
The statement issued by the Academy of scientific research explained that the TWT project works to find innovative solutions to economic, social and environmental challenges that already exist in various governorates of Egypt, with a focus on the governorates that have less access to entrepreneurship services, such as the New Valley and Upper Egypt, within the framework of the efforts of the Academy of scientific research , through its various programs, the most important of which are the specialized technological incubators program ( intila), the Business Accelerators program 101, and the TWT project to support the development of innovative solutions to various challenges in the economic sectors targeted by the vision of Egypt 2030, which positively reflects on the comprehensive and sustainable economic development.

Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy, said that the Academy, in its various entities and branches, spares no effort in providing various means of support to Arab and Egyptian youth, in order to qualify young people, entrepreneurs and innovators to establish their own start-up companies, and work to provide the elements of growth and stability for those companies in the labor market, which contributes to raising their competitiveness.

Abdel Ghafar expressed his happiness at the continued successful cooperation with the Academy of scientific research and Technology, in many programs such as the incubator of supply chains and logistics, and the incubator of Tanmia Wa Tatweer (TWT) of agribusiness in the New Valley, in addition to the agribusiness incubator in Upper Egypt, thanking the attendees of the deputy ministers, governors, and program partners for their support to the incubating companies, stressing the continued role of the Arab Academy and its affiliated entities in supporting young entrepreneurs and innovators.
In this context, Mr. Samuel Camara, representative of the African Development Bank, said that within the African continent, Egypt has a vibrant ecosystem led by passionate, committed and highly innovative young men and women, the Egyptian ecosystem has a lot of potential for growth and development, and the African Development Bank is happy to contribute to the strengthening of the ecosystem through transformative projects such as "TDMA and development" which was achieved through the generous financial contribution of the Danish-Arab partnership program.

For his part, Dr. Wael Al-Desouki, director of the Entrepreneurship Center at the Arab Academy, explained that during the incubation program at various stages, nearly 60 agricultural startups have been supported, more than one participant has been trained, more than one mentoring session has been held throughout the incubation period, specialized camps have been established to support the participants in the program, and more than 20 entrepreneurship training sessions have been provided throughout the program.
He added that many networking sessions were held, and the participation of projects enrolled in the program in specialized exhibitions of entrepreneurship, in order to network these projects with investors and the business community.
