Smart Village Language and Communication students participate in the event of the press conference for the international software competition for universities

In light of the College of Language and Communication’s reiteration of putting theory into practice across all courses in the different departments it hosts, , Prof. Hanan Youssef, Dean of the College, continuously urges students to participate in the most prominent societal, artistic, and cultural activities to connect the courses with practical application and understanding. In this regard, our CLCians attended the press conference of The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC)  organized and conducted yearly by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). ACM is started in the 1970s as a local contest somewhere in Texas and then having grown exponentially in the number of participating universities each year. In 2007/2008, 6700 teams from 1821 universities in 83 countries competed for the bragging rights of being the World’s Programming Champions. The ACM programming contest provides college students an opportunity to demonstrate and sharpen their problem solving and computing skills. The contest is a two-tiered competition among teams of students representing institutions of higher education. The winning teams of the regional contests advance to the contest finals. Our CLCians were responsible for the media coverage of the press conference held at the Concorde Al Salam Hotel in Cairo Governorate that announced the winner, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Faraj, President of AASTMT, stated "We are pleased to be chosen to organize and host the international programming competition for university students ICPC 2023 in its forty-seventh session after strong competition from five other countries." Professor. Hanan Youssef, Dean of the College of Language and Communication, Smart Village, expressed her pride of the students of the college and their efficient organization of the event. The Academy has been chosen to organize and host the international competition for software and information technology in its forty-seventh session during the month of November 2023 in the Arab Republic of Egypt in the city of Salam in Sharm el-Sheikh. The academy succeeded in increasing the number of participating teams from 45 teams from six Arab countries in 2007 to 3800 teams from 28 Arab and African countries in 2022.
