The International Collegiate Programming Contest "Opening Ceremony”

The opening ceremony of the forty-sixth and forty-seventh sessions of the international Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) was held, as Egypt hosted ICPC activities, under the generous patronage of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi - President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) organized ICPC activities in cooperation with all relevant ministries and state sectors, during the period from 14 – 19 April 2024, in Luxor.

The opening ceremony activities were held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ashraf Sobhy - Minister of Youth and Sports, H.E. Counselor Mustafa Elham - Governor of Luxor, H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President, H.E. Prof. Dr. Hamdy Mohamed Hussein - President of Luxor University, H.E. Mr. Robin Haroutunian - US Minister Plenipotentiary for Media and Cultural Affairs at the US Embassy in Cairo, H.E. Ambassadors of Jordan, Yemen, Djibouti, Mauritania, Palestine, and Armenia, H.E. Mr. Bill Boucher - Executive Director of the Competition, H.E. Prof. Dr. Yousry El-Gamal - Former Minister of Education, and Dr. Osama Ismail - Advisor to AASTMT President for Informatics.

It is worth to mention that the competition is considered to be one of the greatest and oldest programming competitions for universities in the world. The ICPC spotlights the students, coaches, universities, industry, and communities working to advance prospects of prosperity through team-based, algorithmic, competitive programming. During ICPC current edition, 2,500 young people from all around the world are competing representing the top 300 teams out of 20,000 teams.
