The project for Preparedness for Oil-polluted Shoreline Cleanup and Oil Wildlife interventions-POSOW is a project co-funded by the European Commission under the Civil Protection Financial Instrument, to improve the preparedness and response to marine pollution in Mediterranean region. POSOW II is a follow-up to the project POSOW I, run in 2012 and 2013.
The main aim remains to reinforce the knowledge and skills of volunteers working in civil protection services in municipalities and in NGOs and involved in spill response. After the European Union coastal countries targeted in POSOW I (namely Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Slovenia and Spain), POSOW II targets 7 Southern Mediterranean European Neighborhood Policy Countries and Enlargement Countries namely: Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey.

POSOW II Kick-off meeting
The technical partners of the project met on the premises of the Cedre in Brest, France, for a kick-off meeting on 03rd and 04th March 2015. Several representatives of Cedre (coordinator) attended parts of the meeting, according to the issues discussed. One representative of each Associated Beneficiary participated to this meeting: Mr Clément CHAZOT, the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC).
