Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, confirmed that the Arab Academy for Specialized Sciences affiliated to the League of Arab States is the house of expertise and the specialized technical arm for research and consultancy in the fields of education and training. He pointed out that this session is concerned to discuss very important topics, including, reviewing the status of Arab agreements in the field of transport, the establishment of the electronic Arab portal to facilitate transport and trade,support the Palestinian economy and the implementation of the strategic plan for sectoral development in Jerusalem (2018-2022). He added: “The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport has always strived to perform its mission as a beacon of knowledge, a great fortress and a landmark in our Arab world. The academy are contributing to the education, training and equipping of the cadres that qualify to build the Arab and African societies, as well as providing consultancy, studies and researches that characterize the Academy. The academy has made a leap in its ranking among the universities of the world to rank 2400 in 2019 from 5584 in 2011 according to the World Ranking of Universities WEBO METRIC, which includes more than 27 thousand universities in the world.

During his visit to the Academy in January 2015, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Koji Sikmizo praised the role of the Academy in developing the field of maritime transport in the Arab countries and Africa.
Also In his visit to the Academy in January 2018, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Ki Tak Lim, praised the Maritime Excellence center and what the Academy is investing in Training and simulation aids in the world, In addition to the development of elite skills of the maritime faculty members and the prominent role of the Academy in representing the Arab countries. In both IMO and IMU in addition to the International Federation of Maritime Universities.
