Description/Outcomes Principles of design including elements design, process and/or a system related to specific disciplines. Describe the relation between power and frequency control of power system. Demonstrate the dynamic model of power system control loops, AVR and LFC loops. Contemporary engineering topics. Describe the main power system state. Advanced topics in control in power system. Principles of operation and performance specifications of electrical and electromechanical engineering systems. Identify the main components of power system. Summarize the control problems in power systems. Explain the main control loops in power system. Analysis, design and implementation of various methods of control using analogue and digital control systems. Explain the main controller for the power system and their effect on dynamic stability. Demonstrate the dynamic model of load-frequency control (LFC) AVR loop. Explain the main controller for LFC loop of power system and their effect on dynamic stability. Applications of industrial automated systems for electrical and control engineering. Demonstrate the main control levels in power system. Distinguish between automatic generation control for isolated power station and multi-area system. Formulate the problem, realizing the requirements and identifying the constraints. Identify the dynamic modeling of turbines, synchronous machines and excitation control. Know the type of excitation system of synchronous generator. Explain the relation between excitation and voltage and reactive power control.
