Dispersion Compensation Using Chirped Apodized Fiber Bragg Gratings in Transmission with Low Eye Closure Penalty
Dispersion compensation using linearly chirped apodized fiber Bragg grating (AFBG) in transmission has been proposed. Trapezoidal grating profile is assumed. The effective medium method is used to model the grating operation. Compared to uniform AFBG, improved bandwidth and less eye closure penalty are obtained at shorter gratings.
