Over the last decade city and port have become increasingly separated both in terms of function and space requirements, due to a continuously increasing need for space from both the city and the port, they are now growing towards each other. This calls for reorientation of the relationship between the city and the port. This paper aims to achieve design guidelines for an sustainable approach for the port-city interface (Filtering line) to connect the port and the city under the current circumstances and future challenges, based on public realm theoretical foundations.
