The implications of globalization on production strategies - a field study on the application of multinational companies in A.R.E Abstract This study aims to identify the impact of global variables of globalization on production strategies utilized by multinational companies in Egypt. The researcher has applied the field study on 57 multinational companies from the following three sectors: food, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. This study follows a descriptive and analytical approach. The study has also relied upon desk research and field study. In this study, a various combination of primary and secondary data sources were utilized: Secondary sources: including textbooks, scientific journal articles, dissertations, industry reports and internet sources. Primary sources: the researcher has prepared a set of questions through questionnaire to collect primary data that can provide answers for the questions addressed in this study, and also to test the formulated hypotheses. The list of questionnaires were distributed to respondents through personal interviews. The data were then statistically analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) which is a software package used for statistical analysis. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows: • There is no significant differences with regard to the importance globalization dimensions for the multinational companies under investigation due to variables relating to personal qualities i.e. type, qualification, career center, and years of experience. • There is no significant differences regarding the importance of production strategies (quality strategy, production differentiation strategy, product design strategy, location strategy, supply strategy, research and development strategy, environmental dimension strategy.) of the multinational companies under investigation due to variables relating to personal qualities i.e. type, qualification, career center, and years of experience. • There is a significant correlation between the dimensions of globalization in general and the variables of production strategies as represented by: quality strategy, production differentiation strategy, product design strategy, location strategy, supply strategy, research and development strategy, environmental dimension strategy.
