background stentdeploymentacrosstheaneurysmalneck hasbeenestablishedasoneoftheendovascularmethodsto treatintracranialaneurysmswithorwithoutcoils. objective thepurposeistostudythepossibleadverse effectsofdeploymentofthenewflow-diverterstent-like devices(fd)ontheflowcharacteristicsofsaccular aneurysmmodels. methods numericalsimulationsofthebloodflowpatternsin theartificialmodelsofthreeaneurysmswerestudied.one modelwasdesignedwithoutanfdstent,thesecondmodel withonefdstent,andthethirdmodelwithtwostents. numericalsimulationforincompressiblelaminarbloodflow wasconductedinthethreeartificialcerebralaneurysmmodels bymeansofcomputationalfluiddynamics. results therewasanoticeableincreaseinthevaluesofthe circumferentialpressuredistributedonthewallsofthe aneurysmafterstentdeploymentthisledtoanincreasethe tensionoftheaneurysmsurfaceandwasconsideredtobe anadverseeffect.thispressureincreasewasfurther aggravatedbythedeploymentofanotherstent.however, thereisabeneficialeffectofusingfdstents,translating intothereductionoftheflowvelocityinsidetheaneurysm andwallshearstressattheinflowzone.thisreduction decreasesfurtherwiththedeploymentofanotherstent. conclusion aneurysmsbecometenserafterthedeploy- mentofoneflow-diverterstentand(moretensestill) afterafterthedeploymentofanotherstent.thisprinciple shouldbekeptinmindwhenchoosingwhichgroupof aneurysmsisthebestcandidateforsuchatreatment strategy.thisstudyrecommendsdeployingseveralfd stentsduringendovascularproceduresuntilcomplete arrestofthebloodflowoccursduringtheprocedure otherwise,theaneurysmmaybecometenseranddangerous ifaslowbloodflowjetstillexistsinsideitattheendofthe procedure.
