COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THREE MAXIMUM POWER POINT TRACKING ALGORITHMS FOR GRID CONNECTED PV ARRAY
In this paper a comparative study between three maximum power point tracking algorithms is obtained for grid-connected photovoltaic array. The system under study in this paper is consisting of a photovoltaic array, a boost converter, a three phase inverter, and grid. The techniques included in this study are Perturb & observe, Incremental conductance, and Fuzzy logic. These techniques describe the control of the Boost converter. The three phase inverter is controlled so that it keeps the output voltage of the boost converter constant and converts the output voltage of the photovoltaic array into alternative current. The comparison obtained in this paper is based on a simulation study under the MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation results show that the three techniques can improve the efficiency of the photovoltaic array. However the maximum power point tracking technique based fuzzy logic has better performance comparing to the other two techniques.
