Conversational Analysis of Political Interviews in a Selection of English and Arabic Talkshows
This study describes some of the conversational analysis tools in talk shows. This thesis elaborates on the technique of turn-taking between hosts and guests, as well as other conversational tools such as politeness strategies used by the speakers in an attempt to persuade the audience of their political agendas via the language they use. The purpose of this research is to analyze some English and Arabic political interviews, especially in talk shows where a Selection of talks were carried out by Egyptian politicians and activists after the 25th revolution. The analysis of the talk show data takes place within the theoretical frame work of Conversation analysis (CA).
