Hany Hanafy Mahmoud Said is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Quality Unit at the College of Artificial Intelligence, El Alamein Branch, Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Egypt. He earned a B.Sc. in 2003, followed by an M.Sc. in 2008, both degrees in Computer Engineering from AASTMT. He obtained a Ph.D. in Computing from Staffordshire University, United Kingdom, in 2015. He worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from 2005 to 2008 and then as an Assistant Lecturer from 2009 to 2015 at the same institution. In 2016, he joined the Computer Engineering Department as an Assistant Professor. In October 2023, he moved to the College of Artificial Intelligence and was promoted to Head of the Quality Assurance Unit in 2024. In 2026, he was promoted to Associate Professor at the same College. His research interests mainly include multi-modal machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, virtual reality, blockchain-based technology, and robotics. He is a member of IEEE and serves as a reviewer for several highly ranked academic journals. In 2024, he received two publication awards in recognition of Q1 (2) journal publications. In addition, one of his papers received a Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Computer Theory and Applications in November 2025.
