In which a blood sample is withdrawn from the donor’s arm and the liquid part of the blood is being isolated using centrifugation, and sample should be refrigerated within 24 hrs. of sampling for its preservation. Plasma is regenerated every 48 hrs. which means we can freely donate plasma every 2 days.Blood plasma consists of: 92% water, 7% proteins, and 1% minerals, salts, sugars, hormones and vitamins.Plasma donation is the only treatment for people with: hemophilia, thalassemia, and Mediterranean anemia.It’s also used in treatment of:- Kidney, heart, and some neuronal diseases and rheumatism.- Deep burns.- Hemorrhage.- Leukemia and blood cancers.- Chronic liver diseases, liver cancers and failures.Some precautions for plasma donation:- Donation only done for those who are 18-60 year old.- Weighing 50 Kgs.- Normotensive.- If diabetic, donors should not be taking Insulin.- No health problems heart, kidney, liver, or thyroid diseases.
