The "MATE ROV Egypt 2026" underwater robotics competition

AASTMT Abu Qir Gets Ready to Host the "MATE ROV Egypt 2026"

The upcoming "MATE ROV Egypt 2026" underwater robotics competition will soon take place at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Abu Qir, running from April 23, 2026, to April 25, 2026. The high-stakes event will be held under the auspices of the Misr El Kheir Foundation and in strategic partnership with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

This year's edition will mark a significant milestone in participation, as it will welcome over 1,000 students representing 36 teams from various universities and schools—reflecting an impressive 30% increase compared to last year. Furthermore, the competition will expand its international reach by hosting talented teams from Turkey and Azerbaijan, effectively transforming the Academy into a global platform for exchanging marine engineering expertise.

During the event, participating teams will showcase advanced engineering solutions in the design and operation of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). These student-built submarines will perform complex tasks simulating real-world deep-sea challenges, and they will be evaluated by an expert judging panel testing the students' innovation, practical application of engineering knowledge, and critical thinking.
