Doctoral Research at PQI Explores World Class Manufacturing in Egypt

As part of the Productivity and Quality Institute’s (PQI) commitment to advancing research and operational excellence in Egypt’s industrial sector, a professional doctorate thesis titled “The Implementation of World Class Manufacturing Techniques in Egyptian Manufacturing Firms” was successfully defended by Mohamed Ibrahim Othman.

The study offered a critical analysis of the drivers, barriers, and success factors influencing the adoption of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) practices within Egyptian industries, highlighting strategies to enhance competitiveness and promote lean transformation.

The supervisory committee included Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamdy Mohamed Salah El-Din Alwani, Professor Emeritus of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, Alexandria University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khamees Mohamed Ali Hassan, Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, College of Engineering and Technology, AASTMT.

The defense and examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Gaber Mohamed Mohamed Abu Ali, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Pharos University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bahaa El-Din Khairy, Professor of Sustainable Manufacturing, Alexandria University.

Following a comprehensive discussion, the committee unanimously recommended granting the professional doctorate, recognizing the thesis as a valuable contribution to advancing lean and sustainable manufacturing in Egypt.
