The aim of the course is to enable students to understand the proper nourishment for infants and their development. Students will examinate the ways in which nutritional requirements fluctuate and change during early childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and elderly age. This course will address the basic elements of how and why dietary needs vary during adulthood, childhood, and older age, with an emphasis on the "first 1,000 days" as a critical time that shapes health across the lifetime. Elderly' changes in body composition and function and elderly' drug interactions will be studied. This course’s goal is to outline the dietary guidelines for senior citizens and how those guidelines vary depending on illness and age. Important variables impacting dietary consumption, nutritional status, and needs in older persons will be discussed, with particular attention to the needs of geriatric and orthogeriatric patients. Elderly nutritional support will also be discussed.
