Description

This course gives an extensive overview of the nutritional management of patients with gastrointestinal disorders. The coursework covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to nutrition assessment, gastrointestinal tests and procedures, the intestinal microbiome, surgical and therapeutic interventions for gastrointestinal tract disorders, and medications and nutraceuticals used to manage gastrointestinal tract disease. Specific gastrointestinal tract disorders covered in the course include inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, liver disease, pancreatic disease, and oncology, in addition to strong and foundational knowledge about nutritional management for various hepatic system diseases.
