Description

This course covers the nutritional management for various diseases of the renal and cardiovascular systems. The progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) leads to significant changes in the needs and utilization of many nutrients. Many nutritional and metabolic problems arise across the spectrum of kidney diseases in conjunction with these changes. Understanding the relevant nutritional principles is crucial to providing patients with CKD with the best possible care. This includes knowing how to assess a patient's nutritional status, determine their unique nutritional needs, and prevent or treat any current or potential nutritional deficiencies and disorders.
