Goal 15. Life on Land
Awareness Info-Day on the PRIMA AWP (Feb 14, 2024) held at AASTMT, covered the 2024 PRIMA calls on Water Management, Farming Systems, Agri-Food Value Chain and the WEFE nexus. Educational/outreach event about funding, research and innovation topics directly linked to sustainable agriculture, water management and land use. It engaged academic and external stakeholders.

A collaboration meeting was held at AASTMT discussing cooperation in agriculture, AI for agriculture, and training programs. This is more a strategic / institutional meeting than community outreach in agriculture land management.

In a move to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, AASTMT and MAFI for Agricultural Produce Industries signed a cooperation protocol aimed at linking the educational process with industrial practice. The agreement was formalized during AASTMT’s Heliopolis Campus graduation ceremony held on 23 September 2024. The initiative is part of AASTMT’s commitment to continuous technological development and supporting enhanced agricultural education and productivity in the region.

AgriCan is an agri-tech startup committed to promoting sustainable management of land and enhancing agricultural productivity in the face of climate change and emerging crop diseases. Leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and smart technologies, AgriCan empowers farmers to protect biodiversity, maintain healthy ecosystems, and optimize crop yields.

The Agricultural Studies Sector of the Supreme Council visited AASTMT’s Abu Kir campus, where they engaged with faculty and students to discuss collaboration in agricultural education, research, and sustainable development. The visit highlighted AASTMT’s commitment to advancing excellence in agricultural sciences, innovation, and partnerships with governmental bodies to strengthen land and food systems in Egypt.

On 24 August 2024, a news item highlighted the Agriculture Minister’s recognition of AASTMT for its role in delivering high-quality education, including programs related to agriculture and sustainable land management. The statement underscores AASTMT’s contribution to training future professionals in sustainable farming practices and supporting initiatives aligned with SDG 15 – Life on Land.

Co-led by AASTMT and international partners, establishes a pioneering MSc in Aquatic Animals Medicine and Ecosystem Health (AQAMEH) to address environmental challenges in aquaculture. The program promotes sustainable agricultural practices, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity conservation through education, research, and capacity building. Addresses sustainability in aquatic food systems, ecosystem health, and pollution reduction from agriculture and industry.

The Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) contribute in many of the international Research projects from here comes the role of the International Research Projects center to coordinate between the Academy and the funding entities on several levels. This project fosters local agricultural value chains, supports producers in their development, and creates new markets for Mediterranean dairy products. It promotes sustainable land use practices indirectly by improving local agricultural productivity, supporting small-scale producers, and integrating agricultural policies. Includes elements of education, outreach, and policy support for sustainable agriculture.

MED Food TTHubs, co-funded by the PRIMA Programme (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area), focuses on developing traceability, transparency, and trust in Mediterranean food supply chains from “seed to shelf.”
It promotes sustainable food systems through IoT-based tracking, transparent certification, and authenticity verification of agricultural products.
AASTMT (Egypt) is one of the 10 consortium partners.

These programs provide comprehensive understanding of tourism logistics operations and offer cutting-edge strategies for agricultural exports.

These companies provided innovative solutions in the field of agribusiness with the support of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the implementation of the Entrepreneurship Center of AASTM.

October 20, 2022, The College of International Transport and Logistics in El Alamein of AASTMT conducted a field trip to link theoretical studies with practical applications, focusing on the agricultural sector.

AASTMT's "Green Horizon" project is a comprehensive action plan that prioritizes sustainable land management for tourism and agriculture, and it is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land). With an emphasis on educational outreach, the goal of this initiative is to promote best practices in ecotourism, sustainable agriculture, and land protection [3.5]. This will be accomplished through a series of workshops, seminars, and partnerships with both local and global stakeholders.

Within the Arab Academy for science, technology and maritime transportation role in sustainable development and environment protection, AASTMT is organizing world environmental day celebration that held under the theme ‘’only one earth’ ’on Monday 18/7/2022 at 10 am, at AASTMT Arab ministries of transport hall- Abu kir campus, Alexandria.
