The Arab Academy for Science,Technology and maritime transport celebrates the Day of the seafarer at Azur Hotel in Alexandria under the auspices of HE Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

The President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Dr. Ismail Abdel-Ghaffar Ismail Farag said that this celebration is the most important event in the maritime industry, which is celebrated at the same time globally and also at the International Maritime Organization
He added that the maritime transport industry is one of the most important strategic industries for countries, which includes many activities, and the progress of any country is measured by the progress of this industry. We all know that Egypt is characterized by the possession of many ports overlooking at the Mediterranean and the Red Sea and possesses the most important waterway in the world, the Suez Canal. He also pointed out that this celebration is a tribute for those who work in hard conditions and endure hardships for their families and for the fulfillment of their self.
Abdel Gaffar noticed also Since its inception, the Academy has made every effort to achieve a high level of training and education To keep up with the new in this industry.

Major General Bahri Ayman Saleh, Head of the Maritime Transport Sector, said that we are actually very late in qualifying and training Egyptian seafarers. Especially when we are talking about a country like the Philippines, small country with a large number of trained seafarers.
Also I would like to inform you now that We`re going to legalize situations of the Egyptian seafarers in order to create jobs and open new doors for them and soon we will ease the restrictions on ships.
Major General Bahri Khaled Zahran Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety which was established in 1830 and it is one of the oldest bodies in Egypt, responsible for regulating maritime affairs, preserves life and property, this authority provides more than 144 services 47% of them are at the national level.

At the end of the ceremony, the Academy honored Major General Bahri Ayman Saleh, Head of Maritime Transport Sector, Major General Khaled Said Zahran, Chairman of the Egyptian Maritime Safety Authority, Kazem Said, Director of the Marine Graduates Center, and Gamal Ghalwash, Vice President of the Academy for Training, Environment and Sustainable Development. Abdel Salam Daoud, Vice-President of the Academy for Maritime Affairs, and Senussi Balbaa, Vice-President of the Academy for African and Asian Affairs.
