| Description/Outcomes | This course is a part of the “Patient Care Cluster III†dealing with the characteristics and use of drugs intended for infectious diseases. The mechanism of action, spectrum of activity, and potential resistance patterns for different antimicrobial classes (anti-biotics, antifungal, antiviral,anti-parasitic and anti-helminthic) are provided. The proper selection of anti-microbial agents and anti-microbial stewardship are discussed. Interactive approaches are used to familiarize thernstudents with background information underlying the expected side effects and the interactionsrnbetween the anti-microbial and other drugs, foods, or disease conditions. |
