Description/Outcomes	This course introduces the students to the chemistry of biologically active molecules of natural origin. The chemical structure of the basic nuclei of medically relevant alkaloids, glycosides and other classes of chemical compounds of natural origin either from plants, bacteria or marine life are reviewed both from theoretical and practical aspects. A special emphasis will be on the modern isolation and separation techniques. The biosynthetic pathways of different secondary metabolite groups will be discussed. The pharmacological effects, structure activity relationships and chemical testing of relevant examples will be covered.
arabic Description/Outcomes	يتناول هذا المقرر كيمياء الجزيئات النشطة بيولوجيا ذات المنشأ الطبيعي. حيث يتم استعراض التركيب الكيميائي للنواة الأساسية من الالكليدات ، جليكوسيدات والفئات الأخرى ذات الصلة الطبية من المركبات الكيميائية ذات المنشأ الطبيعي إما من النباتات أو البكتيريا أو الحياة البحرية سواء من الجوانب النظرية أوالعملية. وسيكون هناك تركيز خاص على تقنيات العزل والفصل الحديثة. وستتم مناقشة مسارات مجموعات الأيض الثانوية المختلفة. وسيتم تغطية الآثار الدوائية، وعلاقة الهيكل بنشاط المركب والاختبارات الكيميائية لبعض الامثلة المتداولة.
