Elhawary Lecturer of EFL Curriculum & Instruction, Faculty of Education, Alexandria University The purpose of the current study is investigating the effect of ICT, as presented by YouTube videos, as an effective solution to motivate ESP students and improve their academic achievement in vocabulary and structure. The study has been conducted at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, College of Maritime Transport and Technology. The study adopts a mixed method research approach. Thirty-six cadets studying Maritime English have been divided into two groups, a control group of nineteen students and an experimental group of seventeen students. For ten weeks, the control group has received traditional instruction based on the textbook while instruction for the experimental group has been supplemented by ten extra-curricular task sheets based on Selected authentic videos from YouTube. The achievement of both groups has been quantitatively measured by means of an achievement test on the other hand, the motivation of the experimental group has been determined through a questionnaire and an interview that have been quantitatively and qualitatively processed. Findings suggest that the treatment has improved both the achievement and motivation of the experimental group participants. Hence, the researcher concludes that using YouTube authentic videos could improve motivation and academic achievement in vocabulary and structure in ESP learning environments.
