8- Biomedical Engineering

8- B. Sc. Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical engineering is currently identified as one of the growing engineering branches in the world, which deals with the study of engineering and medical sciences targeting to enhance the healthcare services industry. Nowadays, Health care is the best investment due to the rise of awareness and population growth. Furthermore, the number of people seeking biomedical solutions for their health issues is increasing, which will be accompanied by a rise in the employment demands of biomedical engineers.
Biomedical engineering may include many of the following topics: medical imaging, biomaterials, Bio-acoustical engineering fields, Tissue engineering, Artificial organs, Rehabilitation engineering, Medical optics and lasers, Cellular engineering, Man-machine interfacing, Human factors and ergonomics, and Biomechanics.

The Biomedical Engineering Department reflects these themes and offers comprehensive education and research opportunities to students by offering three biomedical engineering tracks including:

  • Biomechanics and Biomaterials
  • Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
  • Bioelectronics and Bioimaging

What’s Biomedical Engineering?

Biomedical is a multidisciplinary engineering that embodies several applications disciplines in medical and health care fields. It advances knowledge in engineering, biology, medicine and improves health through cross-disciplinary activities beside communication and leadership skills.

Specifications of a Biomedical Engineer

A Biomedical Engineer works through life science, chemistry, medical science, Mechatronics, to develop/evaluate systems and products such as artificial organs, prostheses (artificial devices that replace missing body parts), instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems.

Future of this field
Biomedical Engineer is currently finding a good job market and expected to reach a higher level over the next few years as the expected growth in the occupation will remain at greater-than-average levels.
Points of Strengths in Program

1. Three concentrations not studied in similar Egyptian universities.

2. Every concentration can select from a pool of elective courses of its major or other concentrations.

3- Since this is the Era of digitalization, graduates of the Biomedical Engineering program will aware of different tools of this era such as Big data, Artificial Intelligence including Deep learning and machine learning, the internet of medical things, Medical Robotics, digital forensic etc. and their applications in the medical and health domains.

4- Since the future is metaverse, graduates of the Biomedical Engineering program will aware of different immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) and their application in the medical and health domain such as therapeutic applications and medical education.
