Educational Pathways and Vocational Training

In addition to its specialised maritime training activities, the Port Training Institute also contributes to vocational education pathways linked to secondary and post-secondary technical education  for qualifying sea forces and support level. The institute provides practice-oriented training programmes that support skill development for learners coming from technical and vocational education backgrounds and preparing for professional careers in maritime and port-related sectors.

The Port Training Institute supports vocational education and training pathways aligned with international skills frameworks and labour market needs. Some of its training activities are designed to complement technical and vocational education programmes corresponding to upper secondary education levels (ISCED 3), particularly for learners preparing for employment in maritime services, port operations, logistics, and marine technical occupations.

Through its hands-on training approach, the institute contributes to the development of professional competencies required for entry into maritime and technical professions, while also supporting progression toward higher technical and academic education.

The institute forms part of AASTMT’s broader vocational education ecosystem, linking secondary-level technical training with advanced maritime education and professional certification.
