Deliverance a Women’s Revolt , written and directed by Ziad Haggag, an Alexandrian fourth year student at the College of Language and Communication continues its festival circuit success to win the best documentary short in Indiex Film Festival .
The film began its festival run late last year and so far has been selected to seven International and Arab film festivals. Deliverance :a Women’s Revolt has been officially selected at Toronto International Women Festival , the Arab Women Film Festival and Moscow Short International Film Festival .
The film investigates the challenges women face in the Arab world mainly in Palestine, Egypt , Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia . It highlights the problems they face on their daily lives and brings them together through a momentous social and political movement.
In his interview with teen times , Haggag sent a heartfelt message to all Arab women saying that “I think Arab women deserve a love letter.. especially that the west doesn’t know much about Arab women so I thought I should show them how Arab women really are. I also thought it’s perfect to show the world how is it like to be a Palestinian woman. I think Arab women are so powerful and inspiring to the whole world because… they’re powerful.
“My biggest dream is to cover all social issues in my movies and to show my work to the whole world.” added Haggag.
