"Forum for Sustainable Maritime Transport in the Face of Climate Change"

Under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and within the premises of the Arab League Pavilion at the Blue Zone - Expo City, Dubai, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 6:00 PM Dubai time, the "Forum for Sustainable Maritime Transport in the Face of Climate Change" took place.

During the forum, a group of experts and professors in maritime transport from the academy delivered a series of lectures focusing on discussing approaches to align current shipping practices with environmental, economic, and societal sustainability goals. The aim was to facilitate the development and implementation of transformative strategies and sustainable practices in maritime operations, ensuring a flexible and thriving future for the maritime industry.

The lectures covered the following topics:

  • Enhancing innovation in the maritime transport industry: Practical initiatives to mitigate the impacts of climate change Captain/ Emad Rashid Khafagi - Dean of the International Maritime Organization Complex at the Maritime Academy

  • Opportunities and challenges in maritime strategies: A comprehensive approach to capacity building and sustainable practices Dr. Captain/ Mahmoud El-Sayed El-Bawab - Dean of Maritime Education and Training Quality and Communications Officer at the International Association of Maritime Universities at the Academy

  • Energy and emissions: Strategic pathways for a sustainable maritime transport industry Dr. Captain/ Amr Monir Ibrahim - Director of Maritime Training and Offshore - Maritime Simulations Department in Cairo at the Academy

  • Management and operation of smart green ports: Towards sustainable connectivity in supply chains Dr. Captain/ Mohy El-Din Mohamed El-Sayeh - Dean of the College of Transport and Technology at the Academy
