The Nautical Planned Sea Training is responsible for the monitoring and assessment of cadets who join various types of merchant ships in order to accomplish their sea service time (12 months) that enables them to attend the upgrading course for 2nd mate in order to be qualified to sit for the 2nd mate exam (OOW Certificate of Competency).

With a firm emphasis on the professional requirements for a career at sea, the department is staffed predominantly with former seafarersMonitoring and assessment within the department is a blend of traditional and innovative methods designed to enhance individual skills and equip the cadets for the challenges faced on-board any type of merchant vessel.
