SenegalBilateral Relations
1-Political Relations:
• Egypt has been in the forefront of the countries that have established diplomatic relations with Senegal immediately after its independence.
Egypt is the second country to recognize Senegal''s independence after France.
They have good and historic ties, and correspond to the positions of the two countries towards many international and regional, as well as a permanent coordination of the positions of the two countries in various international forums.
2- Economic Relations:
• Noticeable increase in the trade exchange between Egypt and Senegal during the period between January and November 2012, reaching the bilateral trade volume to 15.4 million euros, with increase about 42% compared to the same period during the previous year.
3-Security Cooperation:
• Ministry of Defence on the participation of officers from the Senegalese armed forces in carrying out various training courses under the cooperation between the two countries military cooperation.
• Egypt is provides training courses to a number of Senegalese security cadres.
4-Cultural Relations:
• Al-Azhar provides 22 scholarships for Senegalese students annually as well as having a large Azhar mission consisted of 25 envoys studying in different cities in Senegal.
• A delegation from the Dar al-Ifta paid a visit to Senegal in September 2014 to deliver lectures on moderation in Islam which received wide acclaim from the Senegalese side.
5-Technical Cooperation:The Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, "the Egyptian agency partnership for development now," plays a major role in Senegal by providing contributions or sending experts in various fields such as agriculture, grazing, judiciary, police, nursing, media and others.Mutual Visits
• President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Senegal''s invitation to attend the 2014 Francophonie Summit in Dakar scheduled for November 29 and 30.
The Senegalese minister asserted his country''s appreciation for Egypt and praised Cairo''s deeply-rooted support for Africa, especially Senegal ( October 2014).
• Former President Adly Mansour received an invitation from Senegal to attend the 2014 Francophonie summit in the African country in November 2014.
The Senegalese presidential envoy asserted his country''s appreciation for Egypt and its people, praising Cairo''s deeply-rooted support for Senegal ( March 2014).
• Former Foreign Minister conferred with his Senegalese counterpart Mankeur Ndiaye in Dhaka on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of common interest ( November 2013 ).
