Report on the Tenth Annual Dr. Mohamed Ali Hassan Ramadan Football Tournament for the Academy's President's Cup 2022/2023

In line with the Academy's vision regarding the pivotal role played by sports in shaping the character of Academy students and contributing to their development by serving as the correct foundation from which the promising talents of students, capable of raising the Academy's banner in sports competitions, emerge. It is noteworthy that the Ramadan tournaments are held annually during the month of Ramadan and constitute one of the most significant sports activities represented by the Sports Affairs Administration to attract students to engage in sports and instill a spirit of competition among them.

The Sports Affairs Deanship at the main branch of the Academy in Abu Qir, Alexandria, announced the commencement of the tenth edition of Dr. Mohamed Ali Hassan's Ramadan Football Tournament for the President's Cup for the academic year 2022/2023. The tournament is open to staff, faculty members, and students of the Academy.

The Announcement of the Twelfth Ramadan Tournament

The Sports Affairs Deanship has revealed the system and regulations for this year's Ramadan football tournament. The door has been opened for the selection of participating teams from employees and all the different faculties of the academy to ignite competition among the competing teams in the tournament.

The academy has called on teams wishing to participate to immediately go to the sports activity offices of each college and register their teams. The Ramadan tournament for five-a-side football will consist of a preliminary stage with a league system and a final stage among the qualifiers with a knockout system.

The tournament will be held for both employees and students separately. For employees and faculty members, it will start on Sunday, April 2, 2023, while for students, it will commence on Sunday, April 9, 2023. The final for each category will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

The academy has allocated special prizes for the competing teams in the tournament as follows:

  • First-place team: Trophy, gold medals, and a sports kit
  • Second-place team: Silver medals
  • Third-place team: Bronze medals

The matches were held at the main field (divided into 6 five-a-side fields) for a duration of 10 days, divided over two weeks, starting from Sunday, 11th Ramadan, April 2nd, until Thursday, 22nd Ramadan, April 13th of the same month.

Fifty employees, including faculty members, participated in the tournament, forming a total of 6 teams. The tournament included 19 matches with a total of 38 goals.

Additionally, 400 students participated in the tournament, forming a total of 48 teams from 9 different faculties, including Engineering, Maritime Transport, Pharmacy, Computer Science, International Transport, Management, Language and Media, Fisheries, and Hospitality.

For the student category, the tournament comprised 104 matches with a total of 236 goals.
