Honoring the academy’s athletes 2021

International Players 2021/2022

Saif Issa, a graduate of the Arab Academy and a Taekwondo athlete, dominated the Norwegian champion and won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games on July 26, 2021.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar Ismail Farag, the President of the Academy, and the administration of services and sports activities at the Academy, extend their sincere congratulations to the champion Saif Hussein Issa, a graduate of the College of Management and Technology, on the occasion of his winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

For the first time in the history and achievements of the academy, the sisters Heidi El-Saeed and Yasmina El-Saeed led the refereeing of the women's handball match between Sweden and Russia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The sisters officiated the Sweden vs. Russia match with international refereeing skill and experience. It is worth noting that the sisters graduated from the College of Language and Media and are currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration with a focus on New Cairo.

Ahmed Elgendy, a graduate of the academy, snatches the silver medal in modern pentathlon on August 7, 2021. This marks the first silver medal for the Egyptian mission at Tokyo 2020 and the first Olympic medal (for adults) in modern pentathlon.

This is Ahmed Elgendy's second Olympic medal after winning the gold at the Youth Olympics in 2018.

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport honors Egypt's Olympic champions on August 18, 2021. The ceremony included the recognition of Ahmed Elgendy, the silver medalist in modern pentathlon, Saif Issa, the bronze medalist in Taekwondo, and Mohamed Ibrahim Kisho, the bronze medalist in wrestling. The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, and His Excellency Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Academy, along with a significant number of dignitaries, ambassadors, and public figures.

In the presence of the Ministers of Transport, Sports, Trade, and Industry, a ceremony was held to honor the students of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport who won medals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

During its 108th session, the Economic and Social Council honored the academy's students, one of the institutions of the Arab League, who achieved medals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics:

- Student Ahmed Osama Elgendy, silver in modern pentathlon - Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

- Student Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed (Kisho), bronze in wrestling - Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

- Student Saif Mohamed Issa, bronze in Taekwondo - Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

In addition, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Arab League honored Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, on the occasion of the academy's classification by the International Rating Institution as a QS-ranked institution.

Student Mariam El Hady, from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, clinched the gold medal and secured the first-place title in the Women's Table Tennis Championship in Africa. She emerged victorious in the women's singles final with a score of (4-3).

Mariam El Hady has advanced 138 places in the world rankings for table tennis players, now holding the 215th position globally. This significant improvement follows her triumph in the African Championship held in Cameroon.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Academy, and the Sports Affairs Management in Alexandria extend sincere congratulations to the student Ahmed Hossam, enrolled in the fourth year at the Faculty of Engineering at the main campus in Abu Qir, Alexandria. This congratulatory message comes in celebration of his victory in the World Swimming Championship, securing the third position in the 50m above-water monofin category with a time of 16.29 seconds and the fourth position in the 50m underwater monofin category. The World Championship took place in Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Academy, and the Sports Affairs Management in Alexandria also extend their heartfelt congratulations to the student Omar Bader, enrolled in the first year at the Management College in Miami, Alexandria. This congratulatory message is in recognition of his achievement in winning the gold and silver medals in the Mediterranean Wrestling Championship in the 77 kg category.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Academy, and the Sports Affairs Management in Alexandria extend their heartfelt congratulations to student Mohamed Mahmoud Ibrahim, enrolled in the first year at the Faculty of Computer Engineering at the main campus in Abu Qir, Alexandria. This congratulatory message is in celebration of his first-place victory in the African Water Skiing Championship hosted by Sharm El Sheikh in South Sinai, in the under-21 speed race category. Additionally, he achieved the second position in the extreme speed race. Notably, he is the brother of the champion Abdulrahman Mahmoud, who also won the same championship in the adult category.

The students from the Academy who won gold in the World Speedball Championship in Tunisia were honored:

- Student / Waseem Ashraf from the Faculty of Engineering.

- Student / Alaa Ayman from the Faculty of Engineering.

- Student / Salma Abdullah from the Faculty of Management.

- Student / Sarah Abdullah from the Faculty of Engineering.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Academy, and the Sports Affairs Management in Alexandria extend their sincere congratulations to the student Ahmed Mahmoud Abdel-Sattar, a member of the Academy and part of the track and field national team specializing in javelin throwing. This celebration is in recognition of his achievement in breaking a new personal record during the competitions of the First Division Championship in Cairo, held at the Olympic Center in Maadi, with a new record of 52.19 meters.

Nour El Sherbini, the squash player, achieved the title of "Player of the Year" in the Rolex Annual Awards for the year 2021. Additionally, Rowan Elaraby, ranked ninth globally, won the title of "Most Improved Player" for the year 2021.

 Student Mohamed El-Sayed Samy, a member of the Academy and a player for both the Egyptian national team and the Academy's team, has won the gold medal in the African Youth Fencing Championship held in Lagos, Nigeria. Dr. Ismail Abdelghaffar, the President of the Academy, and the Sports Affairs Management in Alexandria extend their sincere congratulations to Mohamed El-Sayed Samy for achieving the first-place ranking globally in the sabre fencing youth category.

Mohamed El-Sayed secured the gold medal by defeating his compatriot Amr Abdel-Baqi with a score of 15-12 in the final match. He began his journey in the championship by achieving a perfect record in the group stage, followed by a victory in the Round of 16 against Christ Ojousu from the Benin national team with a score of 15-2.

In the quarterfinals, Mohamed El-Sayed won against the Algerian Sherif Mohamed with a score of 15-11. He then proceeded to defeat his compatriot and brother Mahmoud El-Sayed in the semifinals with a score of 15-6. Finally, he emerged victorious in the final against Amr Abdel-Baqi with a score of 15-12. Congratulations to Mohamed El-Sayed Samy for this remarkable achievement.

Student Adham Mohey Mohamed Mahmoud El-Beily, a member of the Academy, has achieved the second place and won the silver medal in the World University Finswimming Championship in the 50m underwater race. The championship took place in Italy from March 30 to April 3, 2022, and featured the participation of 55 universities from a total of 15 different countries, with a total of 90 male and female students. Congratulations to Adham Mohey Mohamed Mahmoud El-Beily for this outstanding accomplishment.
